The facts

  1. Discoverable Servers have at least 1,000 members. All will have public Server Web Pages from November 16; automated summaries may cover conversations from that date. Private servers, private channels and direct messages are excluded. [1][2]

  2. Admins can exclude individual channels or opt all channels out of content sharing. Members can disable message sharing under Data & Privacy; this affects future messages, while previously eligible messages stay unless deleted. External search caches may take time to update. [1][2]

  3. Message sharing defaults off in the EU/EEA, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea; elsewhere it defaults on unless disabled. Teen accounts are excluded. Eligible messages will omit usernames and avatars; messages from before the December rollout are excluded. [1][2]

Still unconfirmed

  • Discord has not given an exact day for the mid-December message rollout or a completion date.
