The facts
A 21 October district-court injunction bars covered election-related field operations and interviews in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wisconsin involving people officials know, suspect or reasonably should know or suspect are US citizens. [1]
On 30 October, a Ninth Circuit panel denied the federal defendants’ stay-pending-appeal request and denied an administrative stay as moot. [2][4]
The full Ninth Circuit declined to rehear the stay decision en banc on 30 October; seven judges dissented from that denial. [3]
The district order says it remains effective until 8 p.m. on 3 November, polling-place close that day, or further court direction. The stay and rehearing rulings do not resolve the underlying appeal. [1][2][3]
Still unconfirmed
- Any later modification of the injunction and the ultimate merits outcome of the government's appeal are not established in the cited orders.
