The facts
At a joint government briefing carried by SUNA, officials described recent attacks affecting Khartoum, Al-Gezira, White Nile, Sennar and Al-Gadharef. SUNA identified a 28 October attack on the power station at Al-Managil in Al-Gezira. [1]
Officials said recovered drone data and satellite imagery indicated launch locations inside Ethiopia. This is the Sudanese government’s assertion; Speedy Stories has not independently authenticated the material. [1]
Anadolu’s 29 October report describes attacks on six electricity stations and quotes Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Muawiya Osman Khalid saying Sudan reserved the right to protect itself. It does not establish that Sudan has launched a retaliatory strike. [2]
Anadolu reports that Ethiopia has denied the allegations and said it respects Sudan’s sovereignty. Radio Tamazuj separately notes that the army-aligned government has previously accused Ethiopia of assisting the RSF; those allegations are not established findings. [2][3]
Still unconfirmed
- The attackers’ identities and launch origins remain independently unverified.
- The full duration and geographic extent of outages, the physical damage and any casualties are not established in the checked accounts.
- The checked Anadolu account does not date Ethiopia’s denial, so it is not presented as a newly issued 29 October statement.
